Primary Care Providers (PCP)

As a member of the Idaho Medicaid Plus plan, you must choose a PCP. Your PCP is chosen through your primary Medicare insurance provider. Picking a PCP is important. They should be someone you seek for most of your health care needs. They know you well and understand your medical history.

How do I make appointments?

Your PCP and Care Coordinator will work with you to get the care you need. If you need an immediate or urgent appointment and your PCP is not able to give you one, they may refer you to an urgent care or emergency room. You may call UnitedHealthcare Community Plan at 1-866-785-1628, TTY 711 for help. Try to set up PCP visits as far ahead as possible.

If you need help making an appointment, call your Care Coordinator. If you are in a nursing or assisted living facility, ask the staff to help you; if they cannot, call your Care Coordinator.

Behavioral Health Services are available to treat both mental health and substance use disorders.

Your Care Coordinator can help pick a provider. You can also self-refer by calling a provider from the provider directory. Refer to the benefits tables on pages 28–40 in your handbook for covered services. Your Care Coordinator will give you a directory.

What if I am experiencing a behavioral health crisis?

If you are experiencing a behavioral health crisis it is important for you to get help right away. All members are covered for behavioral health services in a crisis or emergency situation. If you feel you may harm yourself or others, call 911 for emergency help. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, call 988.
