Improving retiree health with UnitedHealthcare HouseCalls
Qualified retirees enrolled in a Group Medicare Advantage plan can take part in the UnitedHealthcare® HouseCalls program. HouseCalls supports and complements members’ regular care through a visit with a licensed health care practitioner in the privacy of their home – at no additional cost.
Practitioners work with participants to understand their health status and provide information that may help maintain or improve health. UnitedHealthcare uses HouseCalls visits to help coordinate care with the retiree’s doctors, which may make it easier to identify treatment needs, recommend preventive services and assist in health education.
At the end of their HouseCalls visit, retirees receive a checklist of topics to discuss with their doctor. UnitedHealthcare follows up with their physician to share the results. Members who have experienced a HouseCalls visit have indicated an average satisfaction rate of 98%.2
Medicare utilization management
The goal of utilization management is to help ensure individuals get access to the right care in the most appropriate setting. UnitedHealthcare is dedicated to helping optimize clinical outcomes while being effective stewards of health care resources. Our programs may include:
- Intake notification
- Pre-service review
- Concurrent review
- Post-service review
